 WINTER TALK SERIES  2018 – 2019



We will begin our 4th series of Winter Talks in October. Detailed below are the speakers for this season.



11th October                Simon’s Sircus, RN Aerobatic team 1968    Tim Miles


Commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Royal Navy’s Sea Vixen aerobatic team, a humorous insight from one of the team into what really went on.




8th   November    Under the Spreading Chestnut Tree - Recording WW1 graffiti on Salisbury Plain    Dan Miles


Did you know that Figheldean was a tourist attraction during the 14/18 war? Dan, hopefully, will arrange a visit to Figheldean Church show us the scribblings on walls in church and then visit the war graves cemetery at Durrington.



13th December    Salisbury Cathedral through the eyes of a Volunteer guide           Jenny McLaughlin


Jenny is a fully-fledged guide at Salisbury Cathedral and she has agreed to host a visit for us.



10th January                Army – Cold War         Shane Rutter Jerome


Shane will discuss the army’s role in the NATO defence.  This really is relevant today as we see 4000 troops returning from Germany, what have they been doing there all this time?
